What does a Chaplain do at a Race Track?

Volunteers are vital to the work. Each week the Chaplain conducts a bi-lingual service, assisted by Mr. Juan Polanco. A groom distributes clothing and other items donated by churches and individuals. Several of the stable employees help to provide transportation for those workers who need a ride for their appointments with a doctor or dentist.

The Chaplain's efforts receive the guidance and assistance of a devoted local Council. The current members of the Council are Chaplain Rick Bunker; Rev. Thomas Brooks, President; Mr. Rey Roque, Vice President; Mr. James Manero, Secretary; Mr. Donald Hogeland, Treasurer; Rev. Barbara Eldred; Mrs. Bobbie Enke; Mr. Jorge Palacios; Mr. Juan Polanco and Mr. Dan Sourwine The Chaplain's office staff includes numerous volunteers from area churches and from racetrack personnel as well as one part-time paid staff member, Mrs. Bobbi Templeton, Secretary to Chaplain Bunker.

"Christ's love compels us... We are therefore
Christ's ambassadors as though God were
making His appeal through us."
From 2 Corinthians 5:14 and 20
